iOS Dashboard
In a review of TD Ameritrade’s platforms from StockBrokers.com, they pinpointed the need for a dashboard:
“Both apps are easy to use and well designed. That said, there are a few features I have on my wishlist for 2018. For one, the apps lack a customizable dashboard, which I feel opens the door to much more account personalization.“
Several of our main competitors had a customizable homescreen or dashboard in their apps. Over the last year, the Mobile team has diligently worked on, designed and iterated, and completed hours of research to refine our future dashboard.
Concepting
I completed several design exercises to see what the visual look of our dashboard could be. Did we want to introduce color? Did we want to use a card-based design? Did screen real estate matter? Did we want to use iconography? How far did we want to push the native iOS look? Those were some of the questions I took into account as I iterated. Below are some of my early concepts.
MVP
Working with the product owners, we designed and tested several modules to get to a set of modules that we thought clients would find valuable during an initial rollout of the dashboard.
After picking which modules would appear in the MVP version of the dashboard, I kept iterating on those specific modules to match our current and changing design standards.
Work in Progress
Outside of our visual design refresh projects for the mobile apps, the dashboard is the largest undertaking in terms of how much the client experience will change with our app.
There are still hours of design and resarch to go, but we’re making great progress towards providing our clients a valuable tool and improving the way they use the app.
